Asterions Hus (DK)

Duration: 50 min | Age: 10+

The Copenhagen based company, Asterions Hus, is well known for their unconventional approach to ancient classics, such as ‘The Iliad’ and ‘Macbeth’. At Waves Festival 2019 the company presents their powerful version of Shakespeare’s timeless ”Romeo and Juliet” – the greatest love story ever told. Their wrestle with Shakespeare’s drama results in a touching, fast-paced and humorous performance. 24 scenes, 24 struggles, 24 detours and 24 celebrations of love’s many faces and love stories’ finales. The performers translate Shakespeare’s amazing text into everything from a dance of worms and sumo wrestlers in love, to a choir gardeners and a ballet in wheelbarrows. “Never before has playing dead been so full of life.”
