Valid corona pas required (negative test result or documentation of vaccination).

The Masterclass is targeted at circus artists, semi professional and professional dancers etc.

Libertivore’s performance Hêtre was one of the highly appreciated outdoor pieces at WAVES Festival 2019, so curator Nullo Facchini decided to present the piece again, as well as the company’s larger indoor piece Fractales.

This masterclass opens the possibility to work on the floor exploring the company’s approach to acrobatic movement, which is closely related to contact dance. It is a comprehensive physical training based on circus and dance skills, combining it with an investigation into the organic material.

One of the aims is for the partakers to relearn to be in relationship with the Other, giving them an opportunity to decontextualize physical contact from its social meaning, to get familiar with touch again and consider the body as a malleable and transformable material – what Libertivore call body material – within a creative context.

Acrobatics can be used to depict feelings and stories.

The masterclass offers a training based on artistic and physical skills. It provides teaching methods that encourage mobility, cooperation and curiosity.

Later in the day participants can experience the outdoor piece Hêtre as part of the WAVES Festival program. Hêtre deals with topics such as loneliness, female archetypes, the forest, the apparatus considered as an object, the theatrical performance of the body in suspension.

Artistic director of Libertivore Fanny Soriano:
I like not wanting to explain everything, not being able to explain everything. Observing bodies in motion, in the same way as I would the nature, changing and indomitable. Watching artists and trying to understand the essence of their physical virtuosity as well as of their humanity, in all its uniqueness and universality. A mass of humanity in a way.

I am intrigued by the amazing capacity of the body to change, from an organic condition to a social body. By creating scenes blending in movement, sound and set design, I embark the spectators on a journey to their unconsciousness, addressing their body rather than their mind.
